Τhe League of Lebanese Graduates from Greek Universities (LLGGU) and the Embassy of Greece in Beirut co-organized, for first time, in 2008, a Festival aiming at the promotion of Greek cinema and culture. The main goal of the organizers was to introduce to the Lebanese wide public recent productions of the Greek cinematographic art. During this 5 day festival (November 11-15), the following movies were played: “Brides” of Pandelis Voulgaris, “Alexandria” of Maria Iliou, ”The Canary Bicycle” of Dimitris Stavrakas as well as the small length movies: “Time Out” of Chaitidi Zafeiri, “Iraklis, Acheloos and my grand mother” of Dimitris Koutsimpasakou and “Shrink” of Spyros Papanastasiou. The projections took place at the Circuit Empire cinemas, Sofil Center - Ashrafieh - Beirut. Besides, a round table was organized IESAV-USJ – grouping the two guests, Mr. Georgios Papalios, President of the Greek film Center and Mr. Georgios Arvanitis, Director of photography of the opening film “Brides”, with students, academics, producers and professionals of the Seventh Art. Discussions focused on various matters related to the cinematographic production. |
