Welcome to the website of the League of Lebanese Graduates from Greek Universities. The idea of creating this site is not new. Though, after a meeting between the League’s Executive Board and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Mr. Theodoros Kassimis on his latest visit to Beirut (13.12.2007), in presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon, Mr. Panos Kalogeropoulos, and following the Deputy Minister’s proposal to include the League in the network of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad, we finally announce today the creation of our website, which was made possible thanks to the kind financial aid of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since it was founded in 1994, our League, (the first league of graduates from Greek Universities), has developed a series of activities aiming at spreading, in the best way possible, the Greek culture and spirit in Lebanon, enhancing the cultural relations between the two countries and consolidating the relations between the graduates in Lebanon and the Universities they graduated from in Greece. Many various cultural and traditional Greek events have thus been organized: cutting the “Vassilopita” on the New Year’s season, celebrating spring on the first of May, teaching benevolently the Greek language at the League’s premises, etc.. On November 2008, the League co-organized with the Embassy of Greece the First Greek contemporary Film Festival. As for the scientific field of activities, the League periodically organizes visits for its members to Greece where they participate in continuous training seminars, and visits for Greek professionals to Lebanon where they participate as speakers in similar seminars.

A rich background has been accumulated for over 15 years. Today, we can share this background with you. This Website is an important way to interact with the LLGGU, to learn more about our actions and activities; it is also the perfect way to a comprehensive feeling of all those who graduated from Greek universities, whether they currently reside in or outside Lebanon, collecting their biographies, sharing their experience, etc.. so as to maintain the link between them and other graduates, universities, Greece and Lebanon.

I therefore invite all the Lebanese Graduates from Greek Universities and all the friends of our League to contact us through this website, either by filling the application under “Register now” or  e-mail us. We are ready to read your suggestions and to discuss any possible idea you might have, to improve our site in the interest of the League.
